Tourism in Uttarakhand, Devbhumi (Land of Gods)
CHAR DHAM IN UTTARAKHAND: THE LAND OF GODS
India is a very religious and stunning country, as we all
know. It is the ideal place to live because of the diversity of the people,
places, cultures, and religions there. There are 28 states in it, each with a
unique climate and geography. One of the most northern and picturesque states
is Uttarakhand. Its situated in the lap of The great Himalayas so the most of
the region of the state is a hilly area and it also has so many great mountains
like Trishul, Chaukhambha, Nanda Devi etc. Due to the temples located here and
the residents' actual belief in the existence of Gods and their ability to
spiritually connect with them, Uttarakhand is frequently referred to as the
"land of Gods or Devbhumi." What attracts the people most towards
Uttarakhand is not only the beauty of nature but the pure pollution free air
and the people of kind heart. Here are some places situtated in Uttarakhand
that everyone should go once in their life:
- BADRINATH
I dont think there is a need to say anything about Badrinath
as we all know about his Glorious dignity and importance in Hindu religion. The
Badrinath temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is open for six months from
April to November every year due to extreme weather condtions in Himalayan
region. Badrinath is situated in Garhwal hill tracks in Chamoli District along
the bank of River Alaknanda. It is one of the most visited pilgrimage in India.
Every year nearly 05 million people visited the temple.
- KEDARNATH
Kedarnath is situated 315 km away from Badrinath Temple and it is as popular as Badrinath among Hindus. The Kedarnath temple is dedicated to the Lord Shiva. It is open for six months from April to November every year due to extreme weather conditions in the Himalayan region for devotees. It was built of stone in the Katyuri style. Kedarnath was the most affected area due to flash floods and landslides in the Indian state of Uttarakhand during June 2013. The main thing about this disaster is that many of the houses/hotels situated nearby the temple were washed away in the flood, but the main part of the historic temple and the centuries-old dome were preserved. Many people say this is the act and anger of God as people are destroying the beauty of nature for their own pleasure.
- GANGOTRI
One of the four
Char Dham Yatra pilgrimage sites in Uttarakhand, Gangotri Temple is the highest
temple devoted to Goddess Ganga and is located at a height of 3,100 metres. The
venerated Ganga River is personified as the Goddess Ganga. The Greater
Himalayan Range, Deodar and pine trees, and the serene white temple are all
around it. Alongside Gangotri Temple flows the sacred Bhagirathi, one of the
two headstreams of the Ganga. Here, you can sense the life and presence of God
within you. It is among the most stunning places in Uttarakhand to visit.
YAMUNOTRI
At a height of 3,235 metres
(10,614 feet), Yamunotri Temple is situated in the western Garhwal Himalayas
close to the river's source. The temple was built in 1839 by Sundarshan Shah,
the monarch of Tehri, an important cultural hub. There was a little shrine there
before the temple was constructed. The shrine is close to the Surya Kund and
Divya Shila. It is one of the stunning temples located in the Himalayan valley
and the fourth Dham on the list of the Char-Dham yatra. Without going there,
you wouldn't be able to finish your Char Dham Yatra. It is highly auspicious.
